Ronald Matlin, Managing Partner

Ron’s business career included years with Budget Rent a Car in Canada, Wisconsin and Boston as one of the first franchise holders. Ron moved to San Francisco as a Founder and President of Retail Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in computerized point of sale systems. Ron acquired Merchants Accounting Services in 1992 and as Managing Partner led the way for Merchants to become the number one accounting and tax service for the restaurant and hospitality industry in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Ron served on Budget Rent A Car’s advisory council in Budget’s formative years. Ron was awarded “Accounting Advocate of the Year” by the US Small Business Administration in 2001. Ron also taught Business Formation and Accounting for the Small business Development Centers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Ron is Treasurer of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, the winner of the 32nd and 33rd America’s Cup and the defender of the 34th America’s.

Ron Specializes in Individual, Corporate, LLC Partnerships, Exempt and Fiduciary returns as well as being an expert in IRS, FTB and CA-BOE problem resolution and conflict negotiation.

John Kroll, Founder and Partner

John started preparing tax returns at 18 and established a chain of tax firms across the nation from Hartford CT to Los Angeles CA before founding Universal Tax Group in 1984. In addition to preparing tax returns and representing both individual and corporate clients with audit representation he has served on several corporate and banking boards. He has acted as lead consultant in several corporate bail out engagements as well as counsel on sole proprietor business sales including mergers and acquisitions. Until recently his business consultancy required traveling to Europe and Asia. Having owned and managed over 200 separate real estate transactions including Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Multi Income Units he is the go to guy for any advice on structuring or restructuring your real estate portfolio. It is safe to say not only has John talked the talk but he has walked the walk. John always says work is his golf game and has the hands on experience to help you navigate through any issues.

John is an IRS registered tax preparer and tax filing specialist.
